JOHN P. JONES JR.

John Pollard Jones Jr., 74, of 3148 S. Shore Drive, died Saturday, July 22, 1995 after a courageous battle with leukemia.

Mr. Jones retired after 36 years with Vepco as a foreman at Surry Nuclear Power Plant. He served his country in the Navy in both World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of Bacon's Castle Baptist Church, the Richmond Masonic Lodge 10, the Khedive Temple in Norfolk, the George F. Dashiell American Legion Post 49 and the Nansemond Cotillion Club. He was the son of the late John Pollard Jones and Eva Upchurch Jones of Richmond.

Survivors include his wife, Pattie Adams Jones; a sister, Mrs. Lois Lee of Mechanicsville, Va.; two stepchildren, Betty and Tommy Adams of Smithfield; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 25, 1995 in Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield, with Rev. Jimmy Acree officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Richmond. The family will receive friends Monday, July 24, 1995 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Colonial Funeral Home, and suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the Isle of Wight Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 97, Smithfield, Va. 23431.
