Richard ``Sap'' Cowell Sr., 78, of the 3300 block of Loam St., died July 22, 1995 in DePaul Medical Center.
He was a native of Norfolk County and was the widower of Mozell Dent Cowell. He was a retired yardman with TARMAC/Lone Star Co.
Survivors include his daughter, Sheila A. Cowell of Norfolk; two sons, Richard Cowell Jr. and George V. Cowell, both of Norfolk; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Sarah Riddick Cowell and Ruben Cowell.
The funeral will be conducted at noon Thursday in Metropolitan Funeral Service Chapel by the Rev. Joseph Lassiter. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. The family will receive friends at the residence, 3358 Loam St., Norfolk, and will assemble there at 11 a.m. Thursday for the procession to the chapel.
