JOHN M. HARDY SR.

John M. Hardy Sr. of 3217 Killian Ave. died July 24, 1995, in Naval Regional Medical Center (Portsmouth Naval Hospital) Portsmouth.

Mr. Hardy was a retired Petty Officer with the U.S. Navy. He was born in Courtland, Va., and was a former member of Diamond Grove Baptist Church in Franklin, Va. He was also a U.S. Navy Veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria R. Hardy; three daughters, Gloria Faye Hardy, Melvina H. Snead, and Linda Hardy Perry, all of Portsmouth; one son, John M. Hardy Jr. of Portsmouth; two brothers, Leroy Hardy and Joseph N. Hardy, both of Franklin, Va.; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends. He was predeceased by a son, Anthony ``Coodie'' Hardy.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Friday by the Rev. E.T. Knight in Corprew Funeral Home. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, Portsmouth, Va., with Military Honors. Viewing at the funeral home will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday. Family will be at 3425 Trexler Ave. and will assemble there for the funeral service.
