LEAP FROM CAR IS FATAL

A 23-year-old man who was arguing with his girlfriend over who should be driving a car early Tuesday leaped from the moving vehicle and died, police said.

Masquai O. White, of the 5300 block of Halter Lane in Norfolk, suffered massive head injuries after tumbling onto Indian River Road near the intersection of Gammon Road about 1 a.m.

The car was traveling about 40 mph, police said.

The driver, 22-year-old Ashanti Tippins, of the 1000 block of Sunnyside Drive, was cited for driving on a suspended license, police said.

White was pronounced dead at the Trauma Center of Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
