Suffolk Habitat for Humanity is now accepting applications for home ownership. To be eligible for a Habitat home, a family must demonstrate:
Need for better housing. Present home may be in bad condition, overcrowded or in a dangerous neighborhood.
Income too low for conventional financing but high enough to handle regular payments, utilities and other costs of home ownership. Proof of income and acceptable credit are needed.
Willingness to participate in the Habitat mission, which includes putting in 400 hours of ``sweat equity'' in building your own home and-/-or helping others.
Habitat for Humanity is an ecumenical, nonprofit housing ministry committed to eliminating substandard housing throughout the world. The Suffolk Project is now constructing its third house. Qualified applicants will be able to work in Suffolk to start their ``sweat equity'' hours.
