A 400-kilowatt generator that will pump water to Dare County customers in Colington Harbour, in case of an extended power outage, was turned on earlier this month.
Dare County Water Director Bob Oreskovich said the new generator can automatically power either or both of the 700-gallon pumps that provide water to residents of Colington Harbour.
The improvements include an enlarged water delivery piping system, a new pump station, an additional 500,000-gallon elevated storage tank, an automatic chlorination and leak detection system and an 8-inch water line below the Colington Harbour Inlet. by CNB
