THOMAS E. DUDLEY

Thomas Edward Dudley, formerly of Virginia Beach, died July 27, 1995, at his home, 1312 Augusta Ave., Bluefield, W.Va.

He was the son of the late James Shelby Dudley and Jewel Jarrett Dudley, pioneer residents of Bluefield, Va. He was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Dudley Fleming.

Following his graduation from the University of Virginia, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon and on the football team, he joined the Army Air Corps. He served as an officer and pilot in the Pacific Troop Carrier Command during World War II.

Mr. Dudley had a long career with U.S. Champion International Corp. (U.S. Plywood) from which he retired in 1977 to enter the restaurant business in Virginia Beach. Here he made his home until 1988 when he returned to Bluefield, W.Va.

Surviving are two brothers, William M. Dudley of Lynchburg, Va., and James Shelby Dudley Jr. of Atlanta, Ga.

The funeral service will be at the Memorial Baptist Church, Bluefield, Va., at 2 p.m. Sunday.
