HOWARD L. PORTER JR.

Howard Lewis Porter Jr., 71, of Rolleston Drive, died July 28, 1995 in a local hospital.

He was a native of Norfolk and was a member of Royster Memorial Presbyterian Church, Norfolk. He was retired from Naval Air Systems Command Atlantic, where he had worked for 37 years. He was a graduate of Maury High School and attended the College of William and Mary, and he was a World War II veteran with the U.S. Navy. He was also a member of Ocean View Masonic Lodge (NU)335 A.F. and A.M., Norfolk Scottish Rite Bodies, and Khedive Temple of the Shrine A.A.O.N.M.S.

He is survived by his wife, Mabel M. Porter; one daughter, Barbara Ann Davenport and her husband, Phil Daniel of Norfolk; one son, Howard Lewis Porter III and wife, Torie Booker of Norfolk; and two grandchildren, Cori Danielle and Rad Colby Davenport.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Royster Memorial Presbyterian Church by Dr. John Monroe. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may join the family at Smith and Wiliams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. today. Military and Masonic Rites will be accorded at the gravesite.
