Pete Ellic Cherry, 88, of 200 Hatton St., a retired painter, died July 27, 1995 in Martin General Hospital.
He was born May 18, 1907 in Martin County, N.C., and was the son of the late Pete Cherry and Claudia Wynne. He was a member of First Pentacostal Holiness Church.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah B. Cherry; two daughters, Carrie Black of Virginia Beach and Peggy Jolliff of Pekin, Ill.; three brothers, William Cherry of Williamston, Jennis Cherry of Virginia Beach, and Leslie Cherry of Martinsville, Va.; two sisters, Marjorie Hopewell of Dunn and Ruth Whitcomb; 15 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Biggs Funeral Home Chapel, by the Rev. Garland Holliday. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Williamston. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Biggs Funeral Home and other times at the home of John Cherry, 1816 W. Main St., Williamston, N.C.
