WILLIAM A. SMITH

William Henry Alfonza ``Al'' Smith, 63, of 505 Harbour North Drive, died July 26, 1995, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

He was a native of Princess Anne County and the son of Jack and the late Irene Smith. Mr. Smith was a truck driver for Waste Management and a member of The Way of Truth COGIC where he was chairman of the Deacon Board.

He is survived by his wife, Ernestine C. Smith; seven sons, Alfonza Smith Jr. of Virginia Beach, Shelton Smith of Milford, Del., Donald Smith, Michael Smith, Wendell Smith, and Darrell Smith, all of Norfolk, and Lorenzo Smith of Chesapeake; five daughters, Barbara Riggins and Valerie Smith of Chesapeake, Linette Fields of Richmond, Cynthie Smith of Norfolk, and LaVerne Green of Virginia Beach; stepmother, Thomasine Smith of Norfolk; two aunts, Shirley Smith of Virginia Beach and Harriett Rouse of Hertford, N.C.; three uncles, Rufus Rouse of Hertford, N.C., Roy Rouse of Waterview, Va., and Clarence Rouse of Norfolk; three great-aunts, 42 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; five daughters-in-law; three sons-in-law, and a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday in The Way of Truth COGIC. Burial will be in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. Graves Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
