462-POUND BLUE MARLIN CAUGHT BY THE SEA TOY

Lots of croaker were landed along the beach from Rodanthe to Buxton on Friday.

Spanish mackerel fishing was good Thursday evening and Friday morning at Cape Point.

Lots of sea mullet were taken in the hook south of Cape Point on Friday. A few bluefish, gray trout and small bottom fish were landed in the surf from Frisco to Hatteras Inlet.

A few speckled trout were beached south of Kitty Hawk Pier. Surfcasters caught spot, small croaker and a few mullet along the northern beaches.

Pier fishing along the coast was fairly slow. A few bluefish and spot were taken on Kitty Hawk Pier. Scattered spot and small croaker were landed on Avalon Pier.

Nags Head Pier reported a few bluefish, spot and croaker decked. Fishermen on Jennette's Pier caught a handful of spot, while Outer Banks Pier anglers landed small croaker and blues.

South of Oregon Inlet, small croaker and a few spot were taken on Rodanthe Pier.

A few bluefish, spot, croaker and gray trout were landed from Avon Pier during the morning, but fishing was slow in the afternoon.

Spot and croaked were decked on Frisco Pier.

Inshore trolling around Oregon Inlet was fair, with some decent-sized bluefish and a few Spanish mackerel taken.

Headboat fishing was good during the morning, with croakers plentiful. Action was slower in the afternoon, with some sea bass and triggerfish taken.

Bluewater action off Oregon Inlet was fair, with yellowfin tuna and dolphin landed. Twenty billfish were released by charters fishing southeast of the inlet including one blue marlin, two white marlin, and two sailfish by the Fighting Lady, three sailfish by the Marlin Fever, and a blue marlin and a sailfish by the Sea Breeze.

One 462-pound blue marlin was caught by the Sea Toy out of Pirate's Cove. The fish became tail-wrapped during the fight.

Dolphin fishing was fair off Hatteras Island. A few wahoo were taken, but tuna were practically nonexistent. Three sailfish and one blue marlin were released.

The water temperature at the Army Corps of Engineers Pier in Duck was 64.5 degrees Friday. by CNB
