SERIAL-KILLER BROADCAST

As authorities press their efforts to capture a suspected serial killer, WTVZ-TV, Channel 33, will broadcast a special one-hour edition of Crime Line Chronicles late Sunday focusing on the investigation.

The TV show, similar to ``America's Most Wanted,'' is produced as a cooperative effort by the Crime Line and Crime Stoppers programs in southeast Virginia.

The program has already aired in two separate half-hour segments; this will be the first time the related pieces have aired back-to-back. It will begin at midnight Sunday.

Since July 1987, the bodies of 10 men have been discovered in rural sections of Chesapeake, Suffolk and Isle of Wight. All but one were dumped nude. All were strangled. Most had ties or contacts with the gay community.

Despite investing thousands of hours, investigators still do not have a suspect. They have appealed for public help.

Police are asking anyone with information about the crimes to call a hot line they have established, 436-8900, or write to the Chesapeake Police Department, P.O. Box 16291, Chesapeake, Va. 23328. by CNB
