Linda Barrett, 43, who described herself as a homemaker, filed with the Pasquotank County Election Board on Friday as a candidate in the Second Ward council race next Oct. 10.
Barrett, of the 100 block of W. Burgess St., will oppose Zack D. Robertson Jr., a businessman and former councilman. Both Democratic candidates will be seeking the seat held for nearly 20 years by W.L. "Pete" Hooker, who said earlier this month that he would not run again.
