SPREAD YOUR WINGS AND TAKE THE BUTTERFLY AND FLOWER TOUR

THE BUTTERFLY SOCIETY of Virginia holds its second ``Butterflies and Flowers Garden Tour'' next Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., rain or shine. Five gardens are open, with most of them on or near Studeley Avenue, one of the city's oldest and most attractive neighborhoods.

Start at 5200 Studeley at the beautiful garden of Patricia Rawls, then move up a few doors to the garden of Julia Bristow, who founded the Society. There will be signs and brochures to guide you to the other gardens.

Plants known to attract butterflies will be for sale at 5409 Studeley. Tour cost is $5 for all gardens. Call 423-1682. HOW SWEET IT IS

Apple Sweet Pepper from Johnny's Selected Seeds is new for 1995. It's unique feature is a fruity, sweet, non-bitter taste, more like an apple than a pepper. For a free catalog, write Johnny's Selected Seeds, Foss Hill Road, Albion, Maine 04910 or fax (800) 437-4290. ILLUSTRATION: Color photo
