A 29-year-old man was listed in stable and improving condition Saturday after being shot several times during an altercation late Friday.
Knowell Young of the 1000 block of Old Dam Neck Road was shot multiple times just before 10 p.m. near his home, police said. He was taken to the Trauma Center at Virginia Beach General Hospital, where he was initially listed in critical condition and underwent emergency surgery.
Police arrested one teenager at the scene. Paul M. O'Hare, 18, of the 900 block of Casanova Drive, was being held without bond on charges of malicious assault and using a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Police said the shooting stemmed from a confrontation that occurred earlier in the evening at a different location and carried over to Old Dam Neck Road, where the shots were fired.
