REGARDING THE V CHIP

In his July 20 letter, Phil Stenstrum states, ``I do not want, nor do I need, Big Brother to help me control what my children watch on TV. That is my job and my responsibility as a parent.''

Doesn't Mr. Stenstrum realize that as parents we need the government to tell us how to raise our children? Doesn't he realize that the government has invested vast sums of money (ours!) to tell us that we, as parents, are wrong, and that we better shape up or else? Who knows better than the bureaucrats in Washington (or Virginia, for that matter) what is best for our children?

The government needs to show us the error of our ways. After all, as long as they do this, the parents who will not control and watch over their kids can rest assured that Big Brother will absolve them of all responsibility!
