CAREER TRACK

ACCOUNTING

Doris Nishioka has joined the accounting firm of Gary L. Roberson in Virginia Beach as an associate and senior consultant. She had been employed as a certified dealer for an accounting software company in Hawaii.

CHAMBER

Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce, Portsmouth Division, board of directors approved the following ex-officio members: Vann Lefcoe of McGuire, Woods, Battle and Booth and president of the Portsmouth Partnership and Louise G. Walden of Olde Towne Flower Market, president of the Olde Towne Portsmouth Association. Also, Dr. Larry Whitworth of Tidewater Community College has been appointed as a Portsmouth division representative on the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce regional board of directors.

Sidney M. Oman, former Chesapeake mayor and co-owner of Oman Funeral Homes, was elected chairman of the board for the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce - Chesapeake Division.

Delores T. Cahoon was elected as president of the Isle of Wight-Smithfield-Windsor Chamber of Commerce. Cahoon and her husband own and operate Simpson's Pharmacy in Smithfield.

Robert Claud, mayor of Windsor, was elected vice president of the Isle of Wight-Smithfield-Windsor Chamber of Commerce.

LAW

Robert L. Freeman Jr. was elected managing partner of the Newport News law firm of Jones, Blechman, Woltz & Kelly. Freeman joined the firm in 1981.

William L. Dudley Jr., a Norfolk lawyer, has been elected to serve as secretary of the Virginia State Bar's Conference of Local Bar Associations' 1995-96 Executive Committee. Dudley is a partner in the law firm of Knight, Dudley, Dezern & Clarke in Norfolk.

Kathryn Fine Pachter has joined the law firm of Fine, Fine, Legum & Fine in Virginia Beach. Previously, she worked for Christie's Auction House in New York.

Jeffrey H. Gray of Willcox & Savage has been appointed to the board of governors of the Virginia State Bar Association's litigation section.

Christopher A. Abel has become an associate to Crenshaw, Ware & Martin in Norfolk. Previously, Abel was a commander and law specialist in the United States Coast Guard.

DAY CARE

Sharon L. Liddle has been appointed as director of Children's Harbor in Norfolk. Liddle was formerly assistant director of Children's World Learning Center in Virginia Beach.

MEDIA

Lockwood Broadcasting Inc. in Hampton has appointed Pamela B. Lawson as executive vice president. She was formerly executive vice president of TideMark Bancorp Inc., Newport News.

Tanya M. Baggio was named sales consultant of Lockwood Broadcasting Inc. Previously, she was a local sales manager for WTVZ in Norfolk.

Mary Noel and Ruth Clark-Morgart were named account executives of Lockwood Broadcasting. Noel has worked in the local broadcast industry for 16 years. Clark-Morgart was formerly with WMTZ-FM and WNTY-AM in Johnstown, Pa.

Jennifer Blount Sanford was named promotions director and national sales manager of Lockwood Broadcasting. Sanford previously worked for Lockwood Brothers Inc. in Hampton as marketing development manager.

EDUCATION

Patrese F. Hall has been appointed as assistant vice president for finance/comptroller at Norfolk State University. Hall had been employed at Christopher Newport University as assistant comptroller.

ORGANIZATIONS

The Registered Apartment Managers Association elected Norman Hassell as president for the 1995-1996 term. Hassell is with The Lawson Cos. in Virginia Beach.

The Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay recently elected Sharon Quillen Adams, executive director of the Virginia Beach SPCA and Susan Taylor Hansen, an attorney and partner with the firm of Cooper, Spong & Davis in Portsmouth, as new board members.

Bernard Deneke has been named the 1995 Young Engineer of the Year by the Virginia Society of Professional Engineers. He is with the Department of Navy in Norfolk.

Dennis B. Clark with William C. Overman Associates in Virginia Beach and James V. Powell Jr. of James V. Powell Consulting Forensic Engineer in Virginia Beach, have received the 1995 Outstanding Service Award from the Virginia Society of Professional Engineers.

MUSEUM

The Mariners' Museum in Newport News has named three new trustees to its board. Frank Batten, chairman of Landmark Communications Inc.; and Admiral James L. Holloway III and Ambassador J. William Middendorf II. RETAIL

John Westbrook is the new mall manager at Lynnhaven Mall. Westbrook was previously manager at College Square Mall in Cedar Falls, Iowa for seven years.

REAL ESTATE Roy Scott has been appointed property manager at GSH Real Estate Property Management in Virginia Beach. Scott has been with GSH since 1991 and previously worked in residential and commercial sales in Norfolk.

TOURISM

Mary Liebert is Hampton Conventions & Tourism's new senior tourism sales manager. Previously, Liebert was tourism sales manager for the Norfolk Convention & Visitors Bureau.

WHOLESALE

Brett A. Wood was named manager of corporate inventory at Noland Company, a wholesale distributor of mechanical equipment and supplies in Newport News. Wood, who has been with the company since 1982, most recently worked as a district credit manager in Newport News.

Also, Mary P. Hargrave has been appointed district credit manager of Noland Company. She joined Noland in 1992 and most recently worked as credit manager. MEMO: Career Track reports upper-level executive and management changes.
