Edward Daniel Foytik, 69, of the 200 block of Mayflower Road, died on July 30, 1995, in a Portsmouth hospital.
Mr. Foytik, a retired pipecoverer and insulator supervisor of Shop 56 at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, was a native of Goose Creek, Texas. He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, Portsmouth, and the American Legion Post 310, Chesapeake, and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Viola K. Foytik; four sons, Darryl E. Foytik of Shiloh, N.C., Rodney C. Foytik of Alexandria, Russell W. Foytik and Kirby J. Foytik, both of Portsmouth; two sisters, Ethel Cloudt of Damon, Texas, Delores Cunningham of New Orleans, La.; three brothers, Leroy Foytik and Ladis Foytik, both of Damon, Texas, Irvin Foytik of El Campo, Texas; seven grandchildren; stepfather, Tom Pyka of Damon, Texas. He was predeceased by a sister, Gladys Uherek.
A mass of the resurrection will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 2, in St. Paul's Catholic Church by the Rev. Joseph Slowik. The burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. A Christian wake service will be at 7 p.m. today at the Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, followed by visitation until 8:30 p.m. The family will receive friends at 123 Broad St., Portsmouth at other times. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
