JOHN E. SUMMERELL

Mr. John E. Summerell, 72, of Glenaire, Cary, N.C., died Monday, July 31, 1995, after a long illness.

Mr. Summerell was born in Roanoke Rapids, N.C. He was a Norfolk resident for over 50 years.

He was a chief clerk of the Norfolk Southern Railroad for 41 years. He was a member of the Masons', Elizabeth Lodge (NU)34 in Norfolk, the Scottish Rite, Valley of Norfolk and the Shrine, Khedive Temple, Norfolk. He served in the Navy during World War II.

Surviving are his spouse, Mary Ruth Summerell; one daughter, Susan S. Everett; and two grandchildren, William R. Keating Jr. of Alexandria, Va., and Lisa E. Keating of Raleigh, N.C.

A memorial service will be held at Glenaire in Cary, N.C. In lieu of flowers, all donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Arrangements are by the Cremation Society of the Carolinas.
