Melvin King Sr., 82, of the 2800 block of Waverly Way, died July 28, 1995, in a local hospital.
He was born in Norfolk and was the widower of Evelyn King. He was a member of St. Thomas A.M.E. Zion Church, Norfolk.
He is survived by three daughters, Jessie Ramsey of Portsmouth, Jean E. Wynn of Fredericksburg, and Marie Bonner of New York; two sons, Melvin King Jr. of New York, and William A. King of Hopewell, Va.; one sister; one brother, James E. Grant of Virginia Beach; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 4, 1995, at 1:30 p.m. in St. Thomas A.M.E. Zion Church in Norfolk. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park, Virginia Beach. Viewing will be at noon Thursday in Pretlow and Sons' Funeral Home, Chesapeake, and on Friday from 11:30 a.m. to the time of the funeral at the church. ILLUSTRATION: Personal photo
