ULYSSES S. MAYO JR.

Ulysses S. Mayo Jr., 71, of 905 Horne Ave., died July 31, 1995, in Maryview Hospital.

He was born in Cartersville, Va., and was retired from the Naval Supply Center after 47 years of service. He was the widower of Thomasine T. Mayo on June 5, 1995. Mr. Mayo was a member of Little Fork Baptist Church, Cartersville, Va., and was a Navy Veteran of World War II.

He is survived by his two sons, Ulysses S. Mayo III and Reginald T. Mayo, both of Portsmouth; three sisters, O'Rene Wesley of Wayne, Pa., Addie Waller of Wayne, Pa., and Mary Horner of Philadelphia, Pa.; three brothers, Guatavius Mayo of Columbia, Va., Samuel Mayo of Cartersville, Va, and Ernest Mayo of Vorhees, N.J.; two grandchildren; six sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law, and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday by the Rev. R. L. Addison in Centennial Baptist Church. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk. The body will be in church at 10 a.m. Fisher Funeral Home is handling arrangements. ILLUSTRATION: Personal photo
