Walter Miles, 58, a native of Portsmouth, Va., died July 29, 1995.
He retired from Newport News Shipbuilidng M53 division. He was a member of First Gravel Hill Baptist Church, its Usher Board, Past Master of Washington Lodge (NU)323, a 32 Degree Mason of Alpha and Omega Consistory (NU)9, Norfolk, a Noble of Arabia Temple Order of the Mystic Shrine, Inc., and an Army Veteran of Vietnam.
He is survived by his wife, Annie K. Miles; his mother, Mary F. Miles of Portsmouth; four daughters; four sons, three sisters, one stepdaughter; one stepson; two brothers; and five grandchildren.
There will be a wake service 7 to 8 p.m. today at Corprew Funeral Home, Portsmouth. A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at First Gravel Hill Baptist Church, Smithfield, with Masonic rites. The body will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pretlow and Chapman Funeral Home, Smithfield, is handling arrangements.
