Celia Ashburne Freeman, 79, of the 900 block of Philpotts Road, died Wednesday, August 2, 1995, in Lafayette Villa Health Care Center.
She worked as a self-employed seamstress and was born in Norfolk County. She was the daughter of Floyd Thomas and Luzetta Little. She was the widow of Linwood Freeman and was a member of New Calvary Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Bon Ton Club.
She is survived by six sisters, Winifred A. Britt, Jennie A. Smith, Gwendolyn A. Crawford, Beverly A. Burt, Marlene A. Smith, and Carlesta A. King; two brothers, Wayman Ashburn and Merritt Ashburn.
A funeral service will be conducted noon Friday, August 4, 1995, by Pastor Kim Neal in New Calvary Baptist Church, 800 E. Virginia Beach Blvd. Burial will be at Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be today from 2 to 8 p.m. at Riddick Funeral Home. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Friday. The family will be at 974 Philpotts Rd.
