One wire of a 13,200-volt three-phase electrical-upply system failed early Wednesday on the U.S. Coast Guard Air Station and Support Center, and much of the base was without power for several hours.
The high-voltage transmission line carries the main electric input from North Carolina Power to the Coast Guard facility, said Chief Warrant Officer Jeff Grantham, of the base engineering department.
``The line went out at 4:30 a.m., and all repairs were completed and power restored at 12:30 p.m.,'' Grantham said. An investigation into the outage is underway, Coast Guard officials said. by CNB
