ARTIFACTS NEEDED

The City of Portsmouth and the Art Atrium are searching for historical documents and artifacts to display as part of a temporary Black History Exhibit during the 1995 Umoja Festival Sept. 15-17.

The exhibit at the Art Atrium will be a stop on narrated African-American Heritage Trolley Tours and will help to educate festival participants on Portsmouth's African-American history.

For information on exhibiting artifacts or documents call Robert Floyd at the Art Atrium 393-1215.

The Umoja Festival, an African-American cultural celebration, will include the trolley tours, an African marketplace, international foods and a variety of national and local entertainment. A teen community forum will address issues such as drug abuse, teen pregnancy, violence, social diseases and parent-child relationships.
