EUGENE E. POWERS

Eugene Everett Powers, 79, died August 2, 1995, in his home.

Mr. Powers was a retired salesman for Continental Can Co. of Richmond, Va. He was born in the northwestern part of Norfolk County, Va. He was a charter member of Suburban Christian Church of Virginia Beach. He was also a member of the Elks Club and the Norfolk Sertoma Club. He was the widower of Marvis Amanda Gregory Powers.

He is survived by his son, Vance L., and his wife, Lorna Rollins Powers of Virginia Beach; one granddaughter, Jennifer Leigh, and her husband, David Pope of Chesterfield, Va; one great grandson, Caleb Pope of Chesterfield, Va.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawson Powers and Minnie Begor Powers.

A graveside service will be conducted 10 a.m. Saturday, August 5, 1995, by the Rev. Frank Hughes Jr. Pastor Emeritus, South Norfolk Baptist Church, in Rutter Family Cemetery, 700 block of Ballahack Road, northwestern section of Chesapeake. The family will be at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, tonight from 7 to 8 p.m. Friends may join the family at his boyhood home, 452 Ballahack Road, Chesapeake, after the services. Memorial donations may be made to The American Heart Association.
