Sharon D. Whitehead, 42, of the 1200 block of Des Moines Ave., died Aug. 1, 1995, in Portsmouth General Hospital.
Sharon, a housewife, was born in Portsmouth. She was a former 13-year employee of London Fog. She was the daughter of the late William J. Coltrane and Marion J. Porter and. She was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, class of 1972. She was a former member of Gates of Heaven C.O.G.I.C., and a member of Bethany Cathedral. She was also a member of Cleopatra Court (NU)6, Daughter of Sphinx, Portsmouth.
She is survived by her husband of 19 years, Charles L. Whitehead Sr.; two daughters, Tanyika D. Whitehead and Dana S. Whitehead; a son, Charles L. Whitehead Jr.; her mother, Marion J. Porter; stepfather, William Leon Porter; six sisters, Andrea C. Townes of Glen Burnie, Md., Cheryl C. Johnson of Glendora, Calif., Paula C. Whitehead of Landover, Md., and Judy C. O'Neal, Laren Coltrane-Garner, Robin L. Potts, all of Portsmouth; two brothers, Wm. Barry Coltrane of Chesapeake, Deirick K. Coltrane of Portsmouth; grandmother, Leah Irby Johnson of Suffolk; mother-in-law, Araminta Ash of Portsmouth; brothers-in-law, Winston E. Townes, Benjamin Whitehead Jr., Edward J. Whitehead, Steve Johnson; sisters-in-law, Dorothy M. Coltrane, Yvonne Whitehead, Angela W. Coltrane; best friends, Vanessa T. White and Geraldine D. Moon; as well as six stepsisters; two stepbrothers; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in New Mount Olive Baptist Church, 1000 County St. Overseer Maurice L. Johnson Jr. and the Rev. Samuel Moore will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. Corprew Funeral Home in charge. The family will receive friends at 927 Blair St., Portsmouth. Viewing will begin at noon today at the funeral home.
