JOSEPH EUGENE WHITT

Joseph Eugene Whitt, 52, of the 3100 block of Trumpet Road, died Aug. 3, 1995, in Maryview hospital after a five-year battle with cancer.

He was a native of Mullens, W.Va., a nuclear inspector supervisor for Norfolk Naval Shipyard for 34 years and was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Norma N. Whitt of Chesapeake; two daughters, Susan W. Ewing and husband, J. Ed Ewing, and Amanda K. Wishart and husband, Eric Wishart, all of Portsmouth; his parents, Byron J. Whitt and Clara Richardson Whitt; a sister, Linda Barlow; and a brother, David Whitt, all of Roanoke, Va.; an aunt, Shirley Love; and some very special close friends.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Neal Sasser. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today.
