RAYMOND L. ETHERIDGE

Raymond Lucian Etheridge, 82, of the 200 block of Old Drive, a retired machinist and inspector, died Aug. 4, 1995, in Chesapeake.

Mr. Etheridge was born in Norfolk County. He retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard and the City of Chesapeake, was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church, member and past chairman of the Administrative Board, past adult Sunday School superintendent and member of the Nathan Bray Bible Class. He was past president of Great Bridge Ruritan Club, Great Bridge Lodge (NU)257 A.F.&A.M., National Association of Retired Federal Employees.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred S. Etheridge; a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Etheridge Mercer of Bradenton, Fla.; a son, Raymond Lee Etheridge of Chesapeake; a sister, Grace E. Grizzard of Virginia Beach; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Oak Grove United Methodist Church, Chesapeake, by the Rev. W. Roberts McIvor. Burial will be private. Arrangements by Francis A. Gay Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to Oak Grove United Methodist Church.
