RUTH E. MATTHEWS

Ruth Elizabeth Matthews of the 700 block of W. 31st St., a former employee of F.W. Woolworth Company, died quietly in her home on August 2, 1995.

She was an active member of Mount Lebanon Baptist Church, beginning with the pastorship of Rev. Frank P. Wise and currently Dr. Ronnie D. Joyner.

She was a 1936 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School and an active Reunion Committee member.

She was also active with the Park Place Multi-Purpose Senior Citizen Club.

Survivors include one son, George Matthews Jr., of Chesapeake, Va.; one daughter, Marian Matthews of Norfolk, Va.; one brother, Lawrence Hunt of Norfolk, Va.; one sister, Rebecca Harrell of Springfield Gardens, New York; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, August 8, 1995, at 12 noon at Mount Lebanon Baptist Church with Dr. Ronnie D. Joyner officiating.
