Local police are asking public assistance in solving these cases:
PORTSMOUTH
Police are looking for Anthony Carlos Byrum, who is also known as ``Appleseed.''
He is wanted on charges of attempted murder and using a firearm in commission of a felony from an incident that occurred on June 14 in the 900 block of Tazewell St.
Byrum is described as black, 5 feet 11 inches tall and about 155 pounds. He is known to frequent the London Oaks section of Portsmouth.
There are eight warrants on file for Byrum, and he is considered armed and dangerous.
NORFOLK
On Thursday, July 27, at 10:40 p.m., a 911 caller said a man had been injured in the 200 block of 19th St. in the Ghent section of the city.
When paramedics arrived, they found the man shot to death.
The victim was identified as Gerald L. Crandle, 20, of the 1200 block of W. 40th St.
Investigators are trying to determine why Crandle was in the area of 19th Street. He usually frequented the Lamberts Point section of Norfolk and South Norfolk.
VIRGINIA BEACH
On Saturday, Jan. 7 at 9:30 a.m., a man walked into the Virginia Beach Schools Federal Credit Union at 4221 Pleasant Valley Road.
He climbed over the counter and removed money from a cash drawer and then ran.
The suspect is described as black, in his late 20s to early 30s, 6 feet 2 inches tall and 225 pounds. He was wearing a hooded, dark blue, Georgetown sweatshirt, black high-top Nike tennis shoes and some type of cloth hanging in front of his face.
Detectives are still searching for clues that will lead to an arrest.
HAMPTON
During the early morning hours of July 22, a woman was alone in her bedroom in the 100 block of W. County Street when a man forced entry through a window and sexually assaulted her.
The suspect is described as black or Puerto Rican, in his early 30s, 5 feet 7 inches tall and heavy set. He had dark brown curly hair and was unshaven.
SUFFOLK
Suffolk police are looking for the persons involved in shooting a Suffolk woman.
On August 1, about 12:30 a.m., a large, white four-door sedan with tinted windows pulled up to the corner of 4th Street and Clary's Drive, and a single shot was fired.
Rosa Melinda Steward, 33, of Greenfield Crescent, was walking with a friend when she was struck by the bullet. She was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where she was admitted and treated. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
