Edwin Walter Carroll, 83, a lifelong resident of Sussex County, died Aug. 5, 1995, in Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg.
He was the retired owner and operator of Shady Oaks Farm in Wakefield. His parents were the late Emmett Walter and Mamie White Carroll. He belonged to the Wakefield United Methodist Church and attended the Ralph Seeley Men's Bible Class. He belonged to the Wakefield Ruritan Club and the Wakefield Hunt Club.
He is survived by his wife, Genevieve Rose Carroll, a son, Edwin Benjamin Carroll, a grandson, Christopher Rossie Carroll, all of Wakefield; and a sister, Minerva Carroll Cox of Newport News. He was the brother of the late Rossie C. Carroll, Clyde N. Carroll, Mrs. Gussie C. Goodrich, and Mrs. Esther C. Harton.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. today in Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, by the Rev. C. Randy Duncan and the Rev. Richard H. Carter. Burial will be in Wakefield Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Waverly Volunteer Rescue Squad.
