Roy Alton Hyle Sr., 81, a native of Newport News, died Monday, August 7, 1995.
Mr. Hyle retired from Newport News Shipbuilding as a supervisor in 1978. He was a charter member of Hidenwood Presbyterian Church. He graduated from Newport News High School and in 1937 graduated from the Newport News Shipbuilding Apprentice School.
Mr. Hyle was preceded in death by his wife, Olivia Mitchell Hyle. He is survived by two daughters, Barbara Hyle Vansant of Virginia Beach and Judy Hyle Hudgins of Long Island, N.Y.; one son, Roy A. Hyle II of Carrollton, Va.; one brother, Ronald H. Hyle of Smithfield; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in Hidenwood Presbyterian Church by the Rev. J. Harold McKeithen. Burial will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the residence. Peninsula Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
