EDNA B. ARTIS

Edna Bowser Artis, 92, of the 3700 block of Grey Dove Lane, died August 6, 1995.

Mrs. Artis was born in Suffolk and was the widow of Jessie E. Artis. She was a member of St. John's A.M.E. She was a member of the Stewardess Board (NU)4, Mamie Korngay Fellowship Group of St. John's, the Grand United Order of St. Mary's Household, and Silver Strand Club of Chesapeake.

Survivors include two daughters, Edna A. Cameron of Norfolk and Irma A. Speller of Chesapeake; two sons, Elton Artis and Jessie T. Artis of Virginia Beach; 19 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted Thursday, August 10, 1995, at noon by the Rev. I.W. Knight in St. John's A.M.E. Church, Norfolk. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Hale Funeral Home in charge. The remains will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Family and friends will assemble at 2838 Bayne Ave. at 11 a.m. for the funeral processional.
