The cities would actually save money by increasing our local police officers' pay. Less money would be expended on various actions ``unbecoming to an officer,'' such as where an officer was unusually brutal with his or her apprehension of a suspect, or other abuse of police authority.
This logic comes from the basic fact that higher pay will summon higher-educated and more moral individuals to the profession. Police officers are in charge of the safety and protection of their fellow citizens and deserve to be treated and compensated as professionals.
Aren't the protection and saving of our loved ones' lives, if not our own, worth the compensation to these dedicated professionals? I think so!
