I always look forward to the Anheuser Busch Golf Classic. For many years I, like thousands of golf addicts, have braved the July heat to support the PGA event at Kingsmill.
Each year we are reminded of the dangers of heat exhaustion and the importance of hydrating oneself with water. This year I was told by security that my 1-gallon thermos of water was not allowed on the course. I can understand the concern about patrons bringing their own beverages, but banning water in 100-degree weather seems a bit extreme.
In the future, tournament officials should thank fans in Hampton Roads for their support and not let greed lead them to force fans to purchase water at $2.25 a bottle.
