A. HOUSTON EDWARDS

Mr. A. Houston Edwards, 81, passed away on Monday, Aug. 7, 1995, at Forsyth Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Leake County, Miss., to Charles D. and Augusta Roberts Edwards on Dec. 27, 1913. A member of Westview Baptist Church, he was a graduate of Mississippi State University and was a retired horticulturist with the Forsyth County Agricultural Extension Service. Prior to moving to Winston-Salem, he worked many years in northeastern North Carolina, teaching Agriculture in Conway and Moyock and working with the Farm Bureau in Hertford, among other things.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Glennie Draper Edwards, and is survived by his mother, Augusta Roberts Edwards of Carthage, Miss.; two daughters, Barbara E. Matthews of Winston-Salem and Jean E. Kanes of Columbia, S.C. and Salt Lake City, Utah; two brothers, Faxton Edwards and Norman Edwards of Carthage, Miss.; two sisters, Louise E. Clifton of Jonesville, La. and Nell E. Yarborough of Padukah, Ky.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Dr. Carlton Mitchell and Rev. M.M. Goss will conduct a memorial service at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 10, 1995, at Westview Baptist Church, in Winston-Salem, N.C. Burial will be at 4:30 p.m. in the Draper family plot in Conway, N.C., with the graveside service conducted by Pastor James E. Womble of Virginia Beach, Va. The family will receive friends at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home, Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, today from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Family to Family Network (13311 Misty Mill, Houston, Texas 77041), a non-profit advocacy group for the disabled, which was founded by Mr. Edwards' granddaughter, Eve Allison Cugini.
