DONALD L. WHITHAM

Donald L. Whitham, 81, of the 6300 block of Edward St., died Aug. 7, 1995, in a Portsmouth hospital.

Mr. Whitham, a retired U.S. Navy Senior Chief Gunner's Mate, was born in Rockport, Mo. He served in the U.S. Navy for 28 years. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association Branch (NU)60, the D.A.V. B.L. Hines Chapter (NU)21, and the American Legion Post (NU)327. He was a veteran of World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Whitham; one stepson, Lional L. Chapman of Arlington; two sisters, Hazel Hall of Moody, Mo., and Dorothy Caldwell of Imogene, Iowa; three brothers, Wade Whitham of Craig, Mo., Adrian Whitham and Ray Whitham, both of Kansas City, Mo.; and two grandchildren.

The graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, where military honors will be accorded. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to Navy Relief.
