Joy ``Joe'' Hensley, 70, of Virginia Beach, died Aug. 7, 1995, in a Virginia Beach hospital.
Mr. Hensley, a native of Joplin, Tex., was the son of Annie V. Allen of Jacksboro, Tex., and the late John E. Hensley. A Korean War veteran, Mr. Hensley retired from active duty with the United States Navy after 23 years of service. He continued service to the United States Government, working for the Department of Defense for 24 years before retiring from the Navy Resale Systems support office in 1990. Mr. Hensley was a member of the Woodman of the World since 1949 and the Fleet Reserve Association.
Survivors include his wife, Alma C. Hensley; a daughter, Cheryl F. and her husband, Michael Fusco of Ocean City, N.J.; a son, Kenneth W. and his wife, Beverly Hensley of Dallas, Tex.; a daughter, Sharon J. and her husband, Dave Freyer of Virginia Beach; a daughter, Susan L. Hensley of Virginia Beach; a brother, Jesse L. Hensley of Kenedy, Tex.; five grandchildren, Kelly O'Shea, Tripp Fusco, Mason Hensley, Matthew Hensley, and Alix Freyer.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, August 11, 1995, at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, by Chaplain Fred Rothermel. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. The family will be at the funeral home Thursday night from 7 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, the Navy Relief, or to the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad.
