Unsold goods continued to pile up at wholesalers' warehouses during June, suggesting manufacturers have further to go in cutting back on production. Wholesalers reported the biggest buildups were in big-ticket goods like automobiles and furniture, where demand has been sluggish. During June inventories accumulated by a faster-than-expected 0.5 percent for the 12th consecutive monthly increase, the Commerce Department said. The report showed the wholesale sales-to-stock ratio, which measures the length of time goods sit at wholesalers, held steady at 1.33 months in June. (Bloomberg) by CNB
