NOT ALL WATER NEEDS TO BE POTABLE

Though 100 percent of our water supply must meet a federal standard of perfection, only about 20 percent of that water will pass through two plumbing systems before making its way to ground and sky. The remaining 80 percent will be filtered just once on its return to nature. The smaller percentage will be ingested directly as beverages, tea and coffee or fruit mix.

In other words, of 72.5 million dollars' worth of high-class drinking water mandated by federal bureaucrats, $58 million worth is going directly down the drain. The remaining $14.5 million worth of this good stuff will pass through the cause of federal concern - we the people.

The kitchen faucet, or the refrigerator with its ice-maker, are where family members find water for drinking and cooking. The kitchen is the proper location for a filtering unit to bring the existing water supply up to this new standard. This can be accomplished by requiring that this installation be a part of all new construction. Existing houses could be required to provide these units when the house is sold.
