Stephanie Timmons started her job when the hot weather started.
She is a three-month veteran at Joyner's Car Wash on North Main Street.
Timmons, 24, likes the work, hates the heat.
``I definitely prefer cold weather,'' she said. ``You can dress for winter. In the summer, you wear a bathing suit and you're still hot.''
When she's not at work, she swims to cool off.
``I like bicycling, too,'' said Timmons, a native of Franklin now living in Suffolk, ``and I enjoy watching and playing basketball.''
During the day, she concentrates on her job, usually vacuuming.
Timmons is one of eight people working at Joyner's and one of three women there.
``We play-fuss,'' she said. ``We get along pretty good. We talk to each other while we're working. There's a lot of talk about the weather.''
The weather only bothers her when she is working.
``I get up about 6 to take my husband to work,'' she said. ``It's cool then. About 7 or 8, it starts getting hot - worse about 3 o'clock.''
At work, Timmons keeps cool, as best she can, ``by drinking plenty of liquids,'' she said.
When she gets off work the liquids tend to be just a little harder.
``I take a little beer, kick back,'' Timmons said. ``I get out of the sun.''
