LET THE BEST ENTER

Regarding Guy Friddell's ``Dream team should leave us something to anticipate'' (column, Aug. 1):

I don't have any sympathy for the overpaid babies in the NBA or any other league. I don't even watch it on TV.

But it's like the line in ``The Good, the Bad and the Ugly'': ``If you're going to shoot, shoot, don't talk.''

Everyone in the Olympics plays by the same rules. We played so-called ``amateur'' hockey teams from the Eastern bloc for years, and even beat some of them. Besides, why lower the standard of a sport? If this is the way basketball can be played, maybe other countries will see that the gap in scores will not be so great in the future.
