HENRY M. BASNIGHT

Henry Murfin Basnight, 65, of Highway 343 North, Basnight Lane, Camden, N.C., died Thursday night in Chesapeake General Hospital. He was a native of Camden County and retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Master Sergeant with 20 years of service. He was a member of the William Clarence Jackson Post 6060 V.F.W. and the Air Force Sergeants Association. Mr. Basnight received the Expeditionary Medal, the Bronze Star and the Air Force Commendation Medal, having served two tours in Vietnam. He was son of the late Bruce M. and Mrs. Lizzie Whaley Basnight and the husband of Marjorie Parker Basnight of the home.

Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Sandra B. Rowe of Elizabeth City, N.C.; one son, Roger A. Basnight of Camden, N.C.; one sister, Margaret Harris of Jacksonville, Fla.; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 2:00 in Twiford's Memorial Chapel, Church St., by the Rev. Charles Stratton Jr. Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park with Military Honors. The family will receive friends at the residence.
