WILLIAM H. JARVIS SR.

William H. Jarvis Sr., 80, of Route 158, Box 8C, died Aug. 11, 1995, in Sentara Nursing Center.

Mr. Jarvis was born in Powells Point, N.C. He was a retired self-employed entrepreneur and managed his own farm, was a member of Corinth Baptist Church, past chairman of the Deacon Board, a former choir member and Sunday School teacher, member of the N.A.A.C.P., and was a Mason with Sandy Ridge Lodge.

Survivors include four daughters, Norma Williams of Barco, N.C., Patricia White of Wappingers Falls, N.Y., Ardella Powell of Moyock, N.C., and Lenora Jarvis Mackey of Elizabeth City, N.C.; two sons, William H. Jarvis III of Camp Spring, Md., and Leonard Jarvis of Freeport, N.Y.; a brother, Milton Jarvis of Norfolk, Va.; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Mr. Jarvis is survived by the mother of his six children, Martha L. Jarvis, and a host of other relatives and friends. He was the son of the late Ardella and Columbus Jarvis.

A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Corinth Baptist Church, Jarvisburg, by the Rev. Walter Jones. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements by T.E. Cooke-Twilight Funeral Home. Viewing at the church will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday. Family and friends will assemble at the home of Nora and John B. Williams on Barco Lane for the procession to the church at 2 p.m.
