TEST REPORT WAS MISLEADING

The article ``6th-graders flub basics test'' (MetroNews, July 28) made the Literacy Passport Test look like a walk in the park.

I am a rising seventh-grader at Virginia Beach Middle School. I have taken the test and passed all three subjects. I worked hard to pass this test.

Although all of the facts in the article may be true, the examples of test questions given did not give readers a true picture of the Literacy Passport Test. The ``sample'' test questions reported were among the most basic on the actual test. People who have never looked at the real test may think that those were some of the hardest questions on the test. It makes 6th-graders look stupid and is an insult to the abilities of 6th-grade teachers.
