Francis Edward Melchiorre Sr. of the 7700 block of Shirland Ave., a self-employed real estate broker, died Aug. 12, 1995, in a local hospital.
Mr. Melchiorre was the owner of Melchiorre Realtors from 1963 until his retirement. He was a native and lifelong resident of Norfolk, the son of the late Ignazio and Josephine Melchiorre and was a Roman Catholic. He was a member of The Tidewater Builders Association; Norfolk, Portsmouth Real Estate Board; Metro/MLS.
Mr. Melchiorre was a 1942 graduate of Old Dominion University and was a well-known local boxer who later went on to train other local boxers.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Christine Cherry Melchiorre of Norfolk; a daughter, JoAnn M. Hammond of Prince George County, Va.; two sons, Frank E. Melchiorre Jr. and Michael I. Melchiorre, both of Norfolk; a sister, Anne M. Vislocky of Norfolk; three grandchildren, Kelly, Michael and Chelsea Melchiorre; and one stepgrandson, Matthew Hammond.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 14, in Forest Lawn Cemetery by the Rev. Joseph Lehman. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk, will be handling the arrangements.
