CRIME LINE

Local police are asking public assistance in solving these cases:

PORTSMOUTH

Two suspects who committed larceny and credit card fraud throughout Hampton Roads are being sought. They were last seen in the Tower Mall area.

They are known to enter businesses, open a credit account using a fake military I.D. card and then charge thousands of dollars worth of merchandise and leave with the goods.

The first suspect is described as a well-dressed, heavy-set black female in her 30s, 5 feet 9 inches tall and about 190 pounds. The fake I.D. she uses the name ``Claire Grabow'' and lists a date of birth of Aug. 8, 1960. She gives an address in the 500 block of Chautauqua Ave.

The second suspect is described as a well-dressed black male, also in his 30s, 6 feet 1 inch tall and about 190 pounds.

Both suspects were seen leaving the Tower Mall area in a blue Audi.

NORFOLK

On Monday, July 31, about 11 p.m., a man armed with a silver-plated handgun entered the Burger King restaurant at the corner of 21st Street and Colley Avenue.

He ordered employees into the cooler and took the manager to open the safe. The robber took the cash and fled.

The suspect is described as black, 24, 6 feet tall and 160 pounds. He has a scar on his right cheek, short hair and a thin mustache. He was wearing a dark t-shirt and faded jeans.

Between Aug. 1 and Aug. 2, someone broke into the office of Joseph Land Container Corp. at 303 Naval Base Road.

Several sets of keys to trucks were taken and one truck, a 1992 freight truck valued at $33,000 and a trailer valued at $10,000, were taken. The trailer contained almost 2,000 cases of Philip Morris cigarettes.

None of the items have been recovered.

The truck had Oklahoma license 1HE500. It is red and had the number 4894 on the front and side. The company logo is on both sides of the truck.

The trailer is 40-feet long and had California license FT20326. The trailer is maroon.

The FBI and ATF are assisting with the investigation.

CHESAPEAKE

On Aug. 3, about 11 a.m., two men asked to use the phone inside an apartment at 2514 Crestwood Lane. The resident let them in.

The resident and a friend were then robbed of money and jewelry by the pair, who then shot and stabbed one of the victims.

The first suspect is described as black, about 22, with short hair and thick glasses. He had a heavy northern accent and is known by the street name ``Real.''

The second suspect is described as black, about 19, 6 feet tall, 180 pounds with a short fade haircut.

SUFFOLK

On Aug. 2, a burglar broke into a home in the 7000 block of South Quay Road and took a large amount of silver and jewelry.

Among the items stolen: a sterling coffeepot, a sterling teapot, a sugar and creamer service, a silver bell, a 10-inch silver bowl, silver knives, forks, spoons and a pie knife. Jewelry included: a gold bracelet, a gold necklace and various pieces of costume jewelry.

HAMPTON

On Aug. 1, at 3:24 p.m., police went to 18 Saxony Place after a family member was unable to make contact with a relative living there.

Police entered the townhouse through an unlocked door and discovered the body of Kimberly Ann Martin Richardson on the floor in an upstairs bedroom.

She had been shot multiple times.

NEWPORT NEWS

At 11 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 11, an officer on routine patrol in the area of Jefferson Avenue and 46th Street saw a body in the road.

The dead man was later identified as Kevin A. Hobson, 35, of the 600 block of Nansemond Ave.

Hobson is believed to have been crossing the intersection when he was struck by a vehicle. Investigators believe the vehicle was traveling at high speed and did not stop.

There are no known witnesses to the incident.

VIRGINIA BEACH

Crime Solvers thanks the participants, sponsors and contributors of the 13th Annual Crime Solvers Golf Tournament. Money raised will enable Crime Solvers to assist the Virginia Beach Police Department in solving additional crimes this year.

Through July, Crime Solvers tips have assisted in the arrest of 143 people who have been charged with 233 crimes ranging from murder to larcenies. Almost $1 million in stolen property and narcotics have been recovered and $20,135 in rewards have been paid. by CNB
