John Martin Hall, 42, the prisoner who walked away from the receiving area of the Portsmouth jail last Wednesday, was captured Saturday afternoon between 2 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. in the South Norfolk section of Chesapeake.
Hall was picked up in Chesapeake and taken to the Chesapeake jail where he was charged with possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia.
He faces an additional felony charge in Portsmouth for escaping without force. Hall is scheduled for arraignment Monday. Before his escape, Hall was being held in the Portsmouth jail on a grand larceny charge.
