SEX SHOULD BE A PRIVATE MATTER

I am relieved that someone finally agrees with me. The Commentary article Aug. 6 was an inspiration. Sex in the '90s is just too much.

So often society overlooks what a private, intimate subject sex should be. I am tired of turning on my television or popping in a video to watch a movie to find that it is filled with sex. To take it even a little further, I am angered by how easily sex went from being rated X to R.

I am a young fan of the movie classics, and I, too, agree that movies were more glamorous and entertaining at the time when stars like Ginger Rogers and Fred Astair ruled the screen. I would rather watch a classic than today's ``sexual escapades.'' They leave no room for the imagination. It's all out in the open.

Sex should go back into the home and stay away from the movies and television. The very thought of a young child learning about sex for the first time from television is indescribable and shameful. If we brought back common values, maybe society wouldn't find sex to be so incredibly important.
